Working With Wetlands and Wildlife Workshop
SER suggested this workshop series and performed many of the presentations for this national event. Topics SER covered included a discussion of what wetlands are, why wetland enhancement is important, practical uses of constructed wetlands, methods and opportunities for wetlands restoration (co-presented with Gary Gordon of Cargill Fertilizer), and the importance of monitoring and documentation. A field trip focusing on what makes a successful management project was co-presented between SER, Butch Register of ACOE, and local speakers. SER staff coordinated with WHC to help create a resource handbook for the project.
Proactive methodologies of wetland management were demonstrated in this collaborative effort between
WHC, SER, and multiple government agencies. Attendees learned effective ways to plan and implement
wetland management, creation, and restoration projects.
