Digital Aerial Imaging

Digital Aerial Imaging vs. Satellite Imagery

GPSI’s digital aerial imagery has several important advantages over today's satellite imagery.

  • The resolution of GPSI’s digital aerial imagery is better than satellite imagery. Our images can reach resolutions as fine as 0.5 meter multi-spectral, while the best satellite system proposed is 1 meter panchromatic (black and white) and 4 meter multi-spectral (4 color bands). The typical resolution of satellite digital sensors ranges between 1 and 1000+ meters.

  • Satellite over-flights occur only once every 11 to 15 days. The time of day satellite images are taken cannot be scheduled. If you need data taken on a particular day or at a particular time, our digital aerial imagery, which can be scheduled when needed, is a better option.

  • Satellite images must be purchased in block quantities at a minimum of 25 square miles. Our imagery can target much smaller areas.
